High fashion has a new darling in the eccentric and charming Florence Welch, the namesake of the indie band Florence + the Machine. Welch has been upping the ante of her dramatic personal style with some of fashion’s biggest names, including Chanel and Gucci. This past Saturday, Welch was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, and had two wardrobe changes, a black mullet dress with lace overlay and a dramatic sequined Balmain dress, both shown.
Not only do I enjoy Welch’s unique style of music but I also adore that top designers have embraced her avant-garde sense of style. Her unconventional beauty and strong presence commands attention, making her a dynamic woman that every designer should want to dress. I wish more artists would not shy away from high fashion and challenge designers to make non-models look fabulous too.
